Dining Table

I started working on this dining table shortly after buying our home in Seattle. I think I spent 3 weeks tinkering on it, trying to rush getting it done before my MiL came to town for Thanksgiving.

I bought a bunch of rough 6/4 walnut, milled it down to 1.25” thick. I joined the boards, using cauls and clamps to keep it straight and lined up. I definitely used biscuits for this.

The end joint I did a haunched tenon, I didn’t really get great pictures of it but you can see where I marked up the waste with a sharpie.

The finish is boiled linseed oil with a water based polyurethane. I put the poly on almost a year after I finished it. I was worried about water stains and rings until I got that poly on it.

I bought the chairs. And wow, did they make me feel like I can’t do finishes at all. I’m going to have to work on that.
